BBC Radio 4 Extra launched in 2002 as BBC Radio 7. It initially featured shows for both the old and young audiences. After realising most of their active listeners were above 50 years old, they dropped the children's shows to focus on entertaining their active listeners. The station is now UK's biggest digital radio station, with 2 million listeners tuning in every week.

BBC Radio 4 Extra mainly features classic comedy, drama and entertainment shows. Many listeners find its nostalgic vibe very appealing. You are guaranteed a hearty laugh from shows like Hancock's Half Hour, The Real Comedy Controllers and Round the Horne. You can also tune in for captivating documentaries and mystery drama series that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Shows like Paul Temple, The Margo Mysteries, and Serial have loyal listeners worldwide. The station has a UK-wide coverage. You can tune in via digital radio on BBC National DAB or online.
